A group of officers and two 'other rank' soldiers of the 10th Infantry Battalion at their mess table at Battalion Headquarters (BHQ) in Victoria Gully, Anzac Cove, Gallipoli. Identified from left to right are: Captain (Capt) Harry Carew Nott from Lower Mitcham, South Australia, Regimental Medical Officer (RMO), who is holding a mug of tea; Lieutenant (Lt) Clarence Rumball from Thebarton, South Australia who is eating from a dixie; Lt Alfred Cyril Sommerville from Croydon, South Australia (with head turned away); Capt Francis Maxwell de Frayer Lorenzo from Westbourne Park, South Australia, Adjutant (later Lt Col and awarded DSO); 80 Corporal Watkins William Blackburn from Adelaide, South Australia; Lt Wesley Armstrong Whitbourn from Glenelg, South Australia; Major Frederick William Hurcombe from Mile End, South Australia, second-in-command, who is drinking from a large mug or tankard; 628 Private Cecil Joseph George McNiece from Croydon, South Australia.
