Studio portrait of 415700 Flying Officer (?) William Clarke Tufnell (left) and 422089 Sergeant (later Pilot Officer) Victor Abel, both of RAAF. The two served with 82 Squadron, RAF and were killed when their Mosquito aircraft crashed on 13 September, 1944 at Kolar, India, after completing an operation against the Japanese in Burma. Tufnell is wearing pilot’s wings and Abel a navigators badge. (Donor: P. Readett)
