Description

Puckapunyal, Vic. 1940-02-22. Group portrait of the 2/6th Battalion Band, all holding their instruments. Left to right: back row: M. Trewin, H. Taylor, A. Sharman, C. Meade, unknown, F. Brennan, P. Dowd, VX10151 Jack Morgan; second row: R. Harding, R. Pevitt, Harry Taylor, Trombone player, E. Whitten, J. Camm, F. Adlam, J. Laird; front row: W. White, G. Hood, H. Bradley, A. Edgeworth, F. Webber, G. Bailey, C. Rodgers, R. Stream. Absent: Sergeant (Sgt) Les Heap (bandmaster), Sgt W. McHoul and W. Roberts. The band last played these instruments at a performance on board the troopship Cameronia off Piraeus, Greece. The instruments were subsequently stored near Athens and lost when the unit was evacuated during the German invasion of 1941-04. (Donor J. Morgan)
