Description
An Australian artillery unit disembarking from the bows of a Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel (LCVP) at the Joint Overseas Operational Training School (JOOTS), at Nelson Bay. The leading vehicle, is a Truck 15CWT, GS (Aust) No 1, Ford F15A, Canadian Military Pattern (CMP), 4x4 which carries the 6th Division insignia. Behind this a motorcycle despatch rider is about to ride down the landing ramp and he is followed by a CMP, Cab 12 Field Artillery Tractor (FAT) known as a Quad, towing a QF 25 pounder field gun. The exercise is being directed by a Royal Australian Navy Sub Lieutenant who is acting as the Beach master (standing, left).
