A guard tower in a former French fort on the road between Vung Tau and Phuoc Le (Ba Ria) is manned by the Army of South Vietnam (ARVN). The fort was constructed by the French to defend one of the bridges on the road between the two towns. Note the barbed wire around the tower which was erected as protection against a possible Viet Cong attack.
