Letters from Baillie to sweetheart Nellie, with several from Nellie to Baillie. Describes journey on troopship including stopover at Colombo, training at Larkhill Camp with 34th Battalion, leave in London and Scotland, and duties in France with 9th Brigade Headquarters. Mentions Spring Offensive, recollections of times together, family news, death of brothers, loss of faith in religion, German trenches, desire to attend Cadet School, and the armistice. Also mentions post-war education scheme for non-military employment, and taking a traineeship as a journalist at the Glasgow Hearald. Describes eventual return to Australia, and post-war civilian work. Includes work references and photograph of unidentified Women.
