Manuscript of Lt. Alan Robertson, architect by trade, who became officer in charge of 2/2 Motor Ambulance Convoy, AASC. Describes enlistment, formation of 2/2 MAC, luxurious conditions on board the troopship `Queen Mary'to Singapore, and being stationed at Kajang and Tampoi near Johore Bahru. Mentions duties,plantations, efficency of batman Clarrie, and first experience of action with invasion of Singapore. Describes capitulation, and Prisoner of war life at Selarang Barracks near Changi,Adam Park, then moved with "J" Force to Zentsuji and Sendai in Japan. Details aspects of POW life such as work parties, entertainment and theatre, chaplains, and education. Describes end of war and return to Australia.
