Description
An unidentified German, possibly a survivor from the SMS Emden or an official, carries a wreath past the Karl von Mueller Kaserne, at the German military establishment, named for the captain of the SMS Emden. The ceremony marked the 51st Anniversary of the action fought between the HMAS Sydney and SMS Emden and the wreath was one of two laid at the Emden Naval Memorial. The ribbon is inscribed to the "last survivors of HMAS Sydney to the memory of the gallant men of SMS Emden who fell in action" and "also to those since passed away once enemies now friends".
