All the fine young men: My father, Stan, was Eric's friend...
This work illuminates how great events in history, such as war, affect the intimate and private parts of a family's history. It contains two sections: screenprinted images on paper in the background, and a glass layer over the top with text etched into the glass using graphite. The screenprinted background includes an arrangement of a soldier's portrait-style photograph in the upper left corner, a Certificate of Service of an Officer in the upper right corner, two passport sized photographs in the lower right corner, a map of Darwin and an image of the bombing of Darwing in the centre. In the bottom centre images of an Australian Defence Medal, an Australian World War II War Medal and an Australian Service Medal from World War II are screenprinted. The glass overlay contains a story of the artist's father, and his role in Australia's Second World War campaigns, including the bombing of Darwin.
