Wallet 1 of 1 - Diary and photographic postcard relating to Lewis Claude Quinn, c. 1916 - September 1918
Collection relating to the First World War service of 2633 Private Lewis Claude Quinn, 37th Infantry Battalion, c. 1916 - September 1918.
Wallet 1 of 1 - Contains a diary and a fragment of a photographic postcard. The diary features a small number entries largely pertaining to periods Quinn spent on the front line in France and Belgium in addition to several epitaphs composed for some of his fallen comrades, and a collection of names and addresses. The diary is damaged, possibly from a shell fragment, and a number of pages have been torn out of the item.
The postcard fragment features a portrait photograph of seven unidentified men in uniform and a handwritten note, while the verso includes a message to his mother, Mrs. James [Alice] Quinn, which appears to have been written by one of his brothers, most likely 3153 Lance Corporal James Barnabas Quinn but possibly 2730 Private Timothy Quinn or 2731 Private George Arthur Quinn.
