Description

Interview with Sandy Rayward who left Australia on the first convoy for the Middle East on 10 January 1940 on the Orford. Discusses his enlistment, the effects of the depression and hard times on the rush to enlist, marching through Sydney prior to leaving, his return to Australia in 1942 for medical reasons and subsequent re-enlistment. Following service in the Middle East he went to New Guinea. His return to Australia after the war, his feelings, and effects of the war on him.
