Buerckner, Edward 'Ted' Francis (Private, b.1913 - d.1976) - US Army new testament
Description
A US Army new testament given to Ted Buerckner after being picked up by the USS Sealion in September 1944, following the sinking of the Rakuyo Maru on which he was being transported to Japan. The new testament has an inscription on the inside cover: 'Presented to E F Buerckner by Mr & Mrs Sidney R(B?)obinson, 789 Claiborne, Jackson, Miss. The 'to' and 'by' inscriptions are written in different hands, indicating they were written at different times.
