Description

Collection compiled by Alan Wood in preparation to write the history of Services Reconnaissance Department (SRD) commissioned by the Z Special Unit Association. This wallet consists of records related to operations in Borneo including a published article by Jack Wong Sue (83783) and a detailed account of Semut I by Charles ‘Fred’ Sanderson (QX11361).

- Copy of note from Alan Wood about Charles ‘Fed’ Sanderson's notes on his experiences as part of operation Semut I
- Detailed account by C. F (Fred) Sanderson of his training and experience on operation Semut. Includes copies of Preliminary Orders Armistice Period and orders signed by Major Tom Harrisson. Account includes details of training and landing, downed US airmen, hand-peddling the wireless radio, details on Pa Bawang assignments, concern for Constable Usop and his family, training first guerrilla recruits, arrival of Semut II and third Semut party who parachuted into Pa Bawang, description of the track to Limbang, working with Ibans Dayaks, final days with Japanese. The attachments include rules for contacting the enemy, propaganda, a text from Operation Semut II on blocking Japanese movement, a summary from Harrisson on the achievement and appreciation of his personnel and advice on the post-war arrangements
