Description
Letters relating to the First World War service of Brigadier General Harold Edward Elliott, 15th Brigade. Some of the letters were censored by Pompey, and later his daughter Violet prior to donation removing details fo a personal nature. The letters cover June 1918 - October 1918 detailing; camping in the woods; contracting influenza; the state of the Italians suggesting that they may concede and make peace; battle tactics; after a long fight being able to capture the railway; the colonels return to Australia for 6 months taking up to 9 men away with him; his visit to Fontainbleu and a description of the palace; the disbandment of the 60th Brigade; Australia's neglect to send over reinforcements; his old boys captain being killed just days before he was due to return to Australia; his complaints about General Birdwood.
