Description
Letters relating to the First World War service of Brigadier General Harold Edward Elliott, 7th Battalion. Some of the letters were censored by Pompey, and later his daughter Violet prior to donation removing details of a personal nature. The letters cover January 1915 - May 1915 detailing; mobilisation on the Suez Canal; a poem; the relief of leaving Mena Camp; leaving Cairo by boat; an attempted landing at Gallipolli; getting wounded; learning of his wife's illness; contracting bronchitis; deaths within his battalion.
