Hand coloured studio portrait of (403006) Squadron Leader Samuel George Proudfoot. Born in Gunnedah, NSW on 5 January 1915, Proudfoot was working as a school teacher at the outbreak of the Second World War and enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on 11 November 1940. He was killed in an aircraft accident on 13 September 1943 while serving in India, and is buried at the Madras War Cemetery, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
