Description
Embarkation "H". Painted a wartime grey, the second largest ship in the world, the converted Cunard White Star luxury liner, RMS Queen Mary, prepares to make way in Sydney Harbour. Upon her arrival in Sydney during April 1940, she was fitted out as a troop ship and made several voyages in 1940-1941 from Australia, taking trrops to the Middle East. She dwarfs the three deck Sydney Harbour Showboat, Kalang, and other smaller craft which have bought people out onto the harbour to say farewell to the huge ship.
