Identified from left to right: Lieutenant Stanley William Glasson Heithersay DSC RAN from Sydney, NSW (later Commander); Lieutenant Commander Lindsay Gellatly DSC RAN from Sydney (later awarded an OBE and retired as an Honorary Captain); Lieutenant Commander Warwick Seymour Bracegirdle DSC RAN from Newcastle, NSW (later Commander and awarded two additional Bars to the DSC and the United States Officer of Legion of Merit); Lieutenant Victor Alfred Trumper Smith DSC RAN of Sydney (later Admiral Sir Victor Smith AC, KBE, CB, DSC, Chief of Naval Staff and Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee (forerunner of Chief of the Defence Force)); Lieutenant Ian Desmond Rhodes CGM (Conspicuous Gallantry Medal) RANVR from Melbourne, Victoria; Lieutenant Ronald John Major DSC RANVR from Perth, Western Australia (later Lieutenant Commander and awarded Bar to DSC).
