Dedication of RAR Chapel Vietnam DPR/TV/578
Two Australian Army Chaplains General arrived in Vietnam to visit troops in the area. While in Vietnam, they took part in the dedication of a chapel which just has been built in the Australian Task Force Area, at Nui Dat. Weapons are put aside for this occasion. The soldiers formed up on either side of the entrance before the simple dedication ceremony. The dedication was a triple ceremony conducted by Army chaplains of the three different faiths. The chapel itself is non-denominational, and all who wish to worship are welcome. Church of England representative, Chaplain E. Bennett, takes his part in the dedication ceremony and watched by the troops, he is followed by Roman Catholic Chaplain General J. Morgan, who sprinkles holy water in the area. Representing the Protesetant and Presbyterian faiths, Chaplain-General H. Cunningham was next to take part in the dedication. The new chapel, which replaces a canvas tent previously used for religious ceremonies in the area, was built by Australian soldiers during those brief periods when they were not on operational duty.
