402823 Sergeant (Sgt) John William (Jack) "Slim" Yarra of Grafton NSW, was presented with the Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM) by Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Malta, Lord Gort. Sgt Yarra was posted to No. 453 Squadron RAAF where he was presumed killed at sea of the coast of Holland whilst on operations on 10 December 1942.
