Studio portrait of QX57206 Sergeant Errol Norman Jorgensen MM
Studio portrait of QX57206 Sergeant Errol Norman Jorgensen. Sgt Jorgensen enlisted on the 23 December 1941 and was discharged on 10 January 1946. During his service he was awarded the Military Medal. His citation reads:
At Buin Road on 30 and 31 March 1945, A Coy was repeatedly attacked over a period of 26 hours by a large en force. Many of the safety, he exposed himself to rifle and MG fire in order to direct the fire of his section. He dragged reserve amo and weapons to an exposed portion of the position to engage an en mortar position and 3 en weapon pits. Although himself wounded, he took over the section bren gun when the gunner was seriously wounded and his firing halted the enemy's last bayonet charge only a few yards in front of his position. Jorgensen's leadership and courage inspired his men and assured success in repelling the continued attacks.
