Billings, Hubert (Bert) Douglas
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 14 Sapper (Spr) Hubert (Bert) Douglas Billings who served with 1st Signal Troop, Australian Engineers and 1st Light Horse Brigade in Egypt, Gallipoli, Sinai and France. Comprises two versions of a typed memoir titled 'My Story (of World War One) written by Bert Billings. The first version is 170 typed pages in length and was written by Spr Billings in 1984, at the request of his grandchildren, and includes more pre war particulars. The second version is 94 typed pages in length and was updated by Billings in 1989. Additional narratives written by Spr Billings are located in Private Records Collections 3DRL/6060 and 3DRL/6575.
