“C” and “D” Companies of the 66th Australian Infantry Brigade, called Jenko Force, are camped on the island of Eta Jima which is one of the many islands in the Sea of Japan and has been carrying out reconnaissance and security patrols on islands in the area. Members of Jenko Force, 17 Platoon, under the command of VX81679 Sergeant Leslie Ernest Moore board Commonwealth Sea Launc No 808 for a patrol of outer islands.
