Pattern 1851 Minie Rifle
Description
Pattern 1851 Minie Rifle. Percussion lock marked Crown over VR and 1852 over Enfield. It has a rifled barrel with proofs stamps that are rather feint or erased. The sight is proof marked crown over B and has the makers initials R&WA. Stock has a feint makers roundel on the butt and the issue details on the tang have been erased. Three flat key pins, similar to the 1842 Pattern musket, hold the barrel to the stock and the fore end cap has a Lovell's catch to secure the 17 inch triangular socket bayonet. Stamped T&C.G on the ramrod.
