Description
Photocopy of diary of three months special service as a specialist surgeon in Vietnam in 1968. Attached to 8 Field Ambulance (AFV), which changes to 1 Australian Field Hospital. Diary describes journey to Vietnam, camp at Vung Tau, details of surgical operations, `Medevac' emergency evacuations of wounded, recreation, patients (including Viet Cong), `dust off' helicopter bringing in casualties, visit to 3RAR position in the Long Hai hills, and return journey to Australia. Regular, detailed entries show admiration for Australian servicemen.
