Description
This series of papers was created within the administrative headquarters of the GOC, Major General Edward Hutton. The majority of the files contain correspondence relating to the administration and organisation of the military forces at this time including appointment of staff, promotion of officers, commissions, medal entitlements, medal lists, equipment, establishments, estimates, finances, ordnance and pay matters.
The series also includes a number of files containing nominal rolls, disembarkation rolls, returns, weekly summaries or diaries and voyage reports of battalions who served in the war in South Africa, annual reports, instruction manuals, publications on cadet training and reports of government inquiries.
