95 mm Lanz Minenwerfer (Smoothbore Mortar)
Description
Muzzle loading light trench mortar built on a steel cradle which is attached to a circular steel baseplate. The mortar has a locking handle attached on the right side used to elevate and depress the smoothbore barrel. Grab handles are located on the rim of the baseplate for transportation. The Mortar is painted matt grey. Markings - 1982.
History / Summary
German Lanz mortar issued to Turkish Army units based in Palestine during the First World War. The mortar was captured by the Australian Light Horse in Palestine.
