Description
Studio portrait of (4204) Private Loch (Lock) James Gray, 9th Battalion. Pte Gray enlisted on 1 September 1915 aged 19 years. He was wounded in action at Pozieres on 23 July 1916 and was admitted to 45 Casualty Clearing Station, but he died of his wounds later that night. Pte Gray is buried at the Daours Communal Cemetery Extension, Picardie, France.
His cousin and neighbour William Frederick Seib, was also wounded at Pozieres, having his right thumb amputated.
