Description
A framed collage of photographs forms a memorial to 8298024 Trooper (Tpr) David Ronald "Poppy" Pearce, 2/14th Light Horse Regiment. The photograph hangs next to the bar at Poppy's recreation hut. Tpr Pearce was killed in action in Afghanistan on 8 October 2007, aged 41. One of a series of 40 images taken by the Australian artist George Gittoes in Afghanistan in November 2008. As an independent artist Gittoes visited the Middle East Area of Operations with the support of the Australian Defence Force.
