120 piece John Sands Pty Ltd puzzle (three pieces missing) featuring Disney's three little pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. The wolf is wearing the Nazi Swastika and is moving towards the brick house of the third little pig, who is flying a Union Jack out the front. On the puzzle is the following text: 'WALT DISNEY'S THRIFTY PIG SAYS. WHO'S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF? THE UNION JACK'S STILL WAVING. WHO'S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLF. IF YOU LEND YOUR SAVINGS!'. The puzzle comes with its original envelope with an image of the puzzle on the front. On the reverse is hand drawn some suites and numbers of playing cards in blue ink.

History / Summary

Propaganda puzzle featuring the three little pigs and the Big Bad Wolf, given to Gillian Armstrong Colburt by her father, 35396 Flight Sergeant Jabez Russell Colburt in 1942 when she was 5 years old and he was serving in Darwin, Northern Territory. The puzzle is based on a Canadian war bonds propaganda cartoon featuring Walt Disney characters, released in December 1941.
