Studio portrait of 1716 Private (Pte) Charles Henry Peel, 53rd Battalion, of Woodstock, NSW. A labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Peel embarked for overseas service aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 14 April 1916. Pte Peel was killed in action in France on 30 September 1918, aged 21 years.
