Collection relating to the Second World War service of Lieutenant Theodore ‘Ted’ Richardson, 2/5 Marine Battalion, United States Marines, South West Pacific, c 1943.
Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one pre-invasion intelligence report on New Britain, thought to have been used by Lieutenant Richardson during his service with the United States Marines in 1943. This report contains a short history of New Britain, and includes details on the island’s infrastructure, airfields, landing beaches, terrain, and local people. The report was compiled to prepare the Marines for their participation in the New Britain Campaign.
