Description
Manuscript titled "The Final Battle for Slaters Knoll in Bougainville on 5 April 1945 : The Truth about our Diggers Bloody Victory". Discusses the official record of the battle and recollections of men who took part in it. Also includes newspaper cutting about May's post-war service in Japan with 13th Army Troop, British Commonwealth Engineering Regiment, where he was instructed to blow up a ship containing the contents of a chemical weapons factory located on the island of Okunoshima.
