Description

Minister for the Army Mr Malcolm Fraser visits elements of the Australian Army Training Team, Da Nang. He arrived at Da Nang by Caribou aircraft and at the Vietnamese's HQ, took the salute as the local Vietnamese regimental colours were 'dipped' in his honour. After conferring with Vietnamese Commanding Officer, General Hoang Xuan Lam, the minister boarded an American Chinook Helicopter to visit Australian Army advisers at their centre in suburban Da Nang. Mr Fraser saw Montagnard Tribesmen under training; also examined and fired a M79 grenade launcher before flying back to Saigon.
