6 Bn birthday parade & arrival HMAS Sydney Vietnam
Description
On 6 June 1966 in Vietnam 6RAR celebrated its first birthday as 420 newly arrived troops were inspected on parade by the Commanding Officer, Lieut-Colonel C. Townsend. Meanwhile in Vung Tau Bay H.M.A.S. Sydney lay at anchor. The Sydney had brought further men and supplies to build up the Australian Force in Vietnam. The stores were unloaded on to American lighters. The army landing ship AV 1355 Vernon Sturdee assisted in transporting troops and M113 armoured personnel carriers from the Sydney to shore.
