Australia Day parade, 1948
Description
More than a thousand Australian troops paraded at HQ 34th Australian Infantry Brigade to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the foundation of the Australian nation. The Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal McCauley took the salute. The parade was led by 26 (N392) Brigadier Ronald Nicholas Lamond Hopkins CBE. The 66th Australian Infantry Battalion Band supplied the music. Part of the parade was held in a snow fall. Three squadrons of Mustang aircraft from No 81 Fighter Wing RAAF, flew past. Several hundred spectators were present, including dependants.
