Empire Day Tokyo
Description
Empire Day in Tokyo was celebrated by a parade of units forming the BCOF, through the streets. Commander in chief (C-in-C) BCOF Lieutenant General John Northcott officially opened Empire House, formerly Naigai Buildings, as HQ British Commonwealth Sub Area, Tokyo. Prior to the march past the C-in-C invested 238 (NX207) Lieutenant Colonel Donald Robert Jackson, CO 67th Australian Infantry Battalion in Tokyo, with the DSO. The DSO was awarded to NX207 Major Donald Robert Jackson, 24th Brigade, by NX8 Lieutenant General Leslie James Morshead on 7 September 1942, in Egypt. No explanation can be found for the re-investiture.
