Presentation of coloured portraits of King George VI to native tribes, New Guinea
Description
At District HQ, Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit (ANGAU), Lae, on 14 February 1946, VX285 Major General Basil Moorhouse Morris DSO, General Officer Commanding ANGAU, presented to the head men of twelve villages, a large coloured portrait of King George VI in recognition of loyal service to the war effort. The first four scenes are of paramount headmen, each is head of about twenty tribes.
