Identification of Japanese war criminals at Rabaul
Description
The first identification parade of Japanese alleged war criminals was held 15 November 1945, at the Indian POW camp near Rabaul. Crimes ranged from murder and cannibalism to rape and general ill treatment. Japanese were lined up and an Indian identifier walked up and down the ranks until he came to the Japanese connected with his particular case. The Japanese was then questioned, identified by name and photograph. Japanese Colonel Takaya being photographed.
