Preparation and dropping of medical and other supplies to POW camp at Kuching, North West Borneo
Description
Air Maintenance Platoon, Australian Army Service Corps, at Labuan airstrip. These containers, along with other supplies are dropped from a Douglas aircraft as it flies over the prisoner of war camp at Kuching. A round flight of about seven and one half hours. At Kuching one hundred and fifty two members of 8 Australian Division, six hundred and twenty nine civilian internees and six hundred and seven British regulars - total one thousand three hundred and eighty eight - are interned. Four hundred and ten are stretcher cases.
