Demonstration of captured Japanese flamethrower
Description
On 5 November, 1943 a demonstration of a captured Japanese portable flame thrower was given at Headquarters New Guinea Force (NGF) by TX6128 Lieutenant Joseph Ian Murtach, GSO 111 (CW), NGF and VX100075 Lieutenant Stanley Martin Hosking, Technical Officer, (CW), NGF before senior officers including Lieutenant General Sir Iven Giffard MacKay, KBE, CMG, DSO, VD, General Officier Commander in Chief, NGF, Major General Frank Horton Berryman, CBE, DSO, then newly appointed General Officer Commanding 2 Australian Corps, Major General Edward James Milford, DSO, then newly appointed Major General General Staff. The flame thrower was captured at Salamaua in September 1943.
