Amphibious training 16 Brigade
The Australian 16th Brigade amphibious training at Yorkey's Knob Beach or Trinity Bay Beach Cairns, North Queensland 24 August 1943. American soldier keeps watch with 50. Calibre Browning heavy machine gun, mounted in emplacement on beach. Troops form line across beach to load cases of ammunition onto a Landing Ship Tank (LST). Soldiers standing astride wooden chute, push cases of ammunition down beach for loading into waiting a LST. Two soldiers direct a Bren Gun Carrier as it reverses up ramp and into Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM) drawn up to beach. Large headland in background. LST No. 88 moves slowly right to left into beach. Camera pans to follow. In choppy sea. LCM No 32 hits beach, tin hatted troops carrying rifles land and runacross sand to shallow water and up ramp of LST headland in background. Watched by American, Australians infantry move left to right up ramp of LST No 176.
