Description

Australian troops captured at Singapore in 1942 and liberated in Korea by Allied forces after Japanese capitulation. Film commences with aerial shots of Korean landscape, moves to a panning shot of four smiling Australian soldiers, newly liberated, and further shots of American and Australian troops at ease. Brief shot of a hand-painted sign hung from a house : "Welcome the USA army!" Shots of American troops entering city of Keijo (now Seoul); Korean crowd scenes; allied troops smiling and waving to the camera; close up of an article in an English language newspaper, about the liberation of POW's; scenes of Australian troops wearing "pilgrim" hats; crowd scenes; another poster welcoming allied troops; allied troops visit a temple; Shots of American troops entering city of Keijo (now Seoul); Korean crowd scenes. The surrender ceremony, in which are seen: American Major General J R Hodge and Admiral T C Kinkaid, signing for Allies.
