Description
Damascus area, Syria, September 1941. Three units of the Free French Forces in Syria -the 14th Escadron Tcherkess (The Circassians), the 3rd Battalion Du Levant and the Pacific Battalion consisting of volunteers from the islands including New Caledonia and Tahiti. The Pacific Battalion spent several weeks in Liverpool Camp, NSW, before leaving Pacific zone for service in the Middle East.
