Railway construction
Description
AIF Railway Construction and Maintenance Group (Royal Australian Engineers) composed of NSW Railwaymen with a small detachment of WA Railwaymen. They are engaged in the reconstruction of the old Turkish Railway through Northern Palestine to the Syrian border. Headquarters are at Nablus and the unit is under the jurisdiction of the Director of Transportation (Middle East) and is actually a part of the British Army. Lieutenant Milton Moore Section Commander ex-engineer Cadet NSW Railways is identified. Ceremonial words were spoken on sound track by Sergeant J W Smith who was a member of the 15th battery 1st AIF.
