Battle of the Modder River, November 28, 1899. Methuen's great fight
Description
Depicts the 1899 battle at Modder River Station, where members of the 62nd and 75th Batteries Royal Field Artillery, 9th Lancers, Guards Brigade, Scots Guards, 9th Brigade, 2nd Coldstream Guards, Argyll and Sutherlanders, Northumberland Fusiliers and 28 New South Wales Lancers commanded by Lieutenant Osborne participated. The Boer force was under General Cronje. The composite picture depicts events of the Modder River battle, near the railway station at the confluence of the Modder and Riet rivers in South Africa.
