Description
Portrait of Captain Sir James Gordon Partridge Bisset, Kt, CBE, Commodore of Cunard White Star Company Ltd. He commanded SS Queen Mary from 1942, (during the war it was a troop ship carrying 2 Australian Imperial Force from Australia to the Middle East and United kingdom in 1940, 8th Division 2 AIF to Australia in 1941, United States forces to Australia in 1942, and 9th Division 2 AIF from Middle East back to Australia. Bissett is depicted in full uniform standing on the deck of SS Queen Mary.
