Awaiting the return of a flight from an OP
Description
Scene of members of the 450 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, standing and looking at they sky. Dargie noted, "Standing on a wrecked German plane, the Intelligence Officer of the Squadron scans the sky through his glasses. The Adjutant and some of the pilots not on duty, wait in a group nearby; behind them is the hospital gharry, close to the run-way in case it is needed. Meanwhile, another flight of planes from an R.A.F. [Royal Air Force] (No. 112) takes off from the drome. On this occasion, the planes from our Squadron had been acting as close escort to a flight of 12 Boston bombers, which had made a devastating daylight raid on Martuba aerodrome".
