Bell P39 Airacobra and Catalina aircraft
Description
Two aircraft damaged by Japanese attacks at Port Moresby are shown. In the foreground is a US Bell P39 Airacobra which crashed into the sea after an encounter with a Japanese Zero fighter. The Consolidated Catalina flying boat in the rear was machine-gunned at night in Port Moresby harbour and burnt out whilst at mooring.
