Description

A manually driven electric generator powered by a bicycle drive train, and mounted on the rear forks of a tandem bicycle.

History / Summary

Units such as this were used as alternatives to petrol powered dynamos as the power source for light radio stations and telephone stations. This example was captured during the Third Battle of Ypres in Autumn 1917. Photograph E00910 possibly shows this particular machine. German Official photograph BUFA 5030 shows a unit in operation.
